Dragon Dictation App Reviews

Definitely Needs Work

When this app works, it is truly indispensable. It does have trouble identifying some words at times, but I find that it does pick up more and more over time as you use it. However, because you can only choose one primary language, the app cannot process more than one language at once, and, this can be a problem if youre using more than one language in your work/study. My main complaint is the reliability of this app. The app crashes on a regular basis, it loses contact with the system through which it processes your dictation, and, lately, the app stopped opening on my iPad, and all of my most recent work was lost. I have had to delete and reinstall this app on my iPad, to date, two times, and Ive only been using it for approximately three weeks. Unfortunately, some of these issues are recent ones, and, thus, the company should seriously consider a substantial app update in the very near future. Although I can honestly say that when it does work, this app is a great help to those of us who have hand/wrist issues where extensive typing is required, I cannot recommend the current version--best to find something else for now and/or wait for the app to be updated so some of these issues are (hopefully) addressed.

Garbage

POS, dont waste your time with this app, last update was 2013ish so nuance cant be bothered to fix it. my dog understands me better. Waiting for Dragon Anywhere to come out for iOS.

Best speech to text app

There are other app that are really expensive and most people say they dont work, but this app is way better than all of them and a lot less expensive!!!

Changed My Life!

This app has changed my life. I am a college student who does not type papers, instead I hand-write them and then type them as I type them. Using the software, I am able to speak my papers to my phone without typing at all. What would typically take me an hour or two hours to do now takes me 10 to 20 minutes to do. I am in love with this app. Copy-paste function is easy, and the words are usually accurate. There were only about 10 incorrect words out of 5 hand-written pages of text that I dictated. The text is easy to edit and copies nicely into other documents. Yes, it does stop recording sometimes. Im able to see this, however, and pause where I am to move the text to a document, clear the text from the Dragon app, then start where I left off. I am very impressed.

Works great

Dictates fast. Accuracy pretty good.

Like it

Nice free tool

Pending Update

This going to be a five star app once landscape view is available for the IPhone as it already is for the IPad.

Brilliant and stupid in the same app

The dictation engine is brilliant, amazing, and words that I cant even think of to describe how great it is but this app is unfinished. It is hampered by stupid things like theres no way to delete the old text and start a new recording. So it works one time then you have to reboot the phone to use it again?

A tool in the kit of productivity

At the end of the day, the white board in the office may have 2 ideas I’d never put together before. At the end of a client call, my notebook may have a reminder to follow up on a promise. At the end of dinner with friends, my mind might be full with the 3 things we talked about that I want to follow up on at work tomorrow. Enter Dragon Anywhere… I’ve been using the product for a while - mind you, I’m a fan and have used Dragon to publish all three books I’ve written as well as HUNDREDS of articles - and can tell you it’s one of FOUR apps on the home screen of my iPhone. It’s front and center when I launch my phone. When I see it I ask, “Is there anything I need to get out of my head and in to print?” Most recent use-case: On my drive to LAX Tuesday night, I opened the app and for about an hour I dictated notes that all went straight into my email inbox. At the airport, I pulled those notes up, did minimal editing, and sent 3-5 paragraph emails out to 14 people...

recommended if you want to have a headache.

You want a headache? Download this app. You open the app, and ok, you speak and it types... But if you had a unrecognized word or simply want to delete, is a headache.. Besides if you want to copy (to paste elsewhere on your phone including text messages) is almost impossible as it will only highlight a word (not the whole text) and you will end up fighting with your thumb trying to highlight the rest of phrase... And good luck if copy and paste option pops-up. I will recommended if you want to waste your time. Just

great idea

Its very useful.

Needs an update

I downloaded this app a couple years ago. Its ok, but far from great. It saves me time in my writing, but I have to spend a lot of time correcting and cleaning up the text. It gets a lot of words wrong and doesnt get punctuation at all. It sometimes locks up-and I lose what I dictated. It should autosave to the cloud, and it should give you more dictation time before processing. I would think after 3+ years this company would have made some updates and improvements to this app-talk about resting on your laurels! Technology has come a long way over the past few years-get with the program Dragon!

Good.

Need improvements in user interface to take less time and attention to operate after dictated ( edit text, copy text, delete all, etc)

Needs a few enhancements

Seems very good at speech recognition. Some enhancements like saving of .txt or .rtf file to cloud storage (voice activated?) and some integration (easy transfer of files) with/to desktop version would make it much more versatile and thus a super app.

Double the disappointment

I like being able to write a quick note for my work. My job requires me to spend hours in the car and I was thrilled with opportunity to be able to get some notes done quickly when I have such a busy life.... BIG Mistake! I have trusted that my notes will send to my email. Sadly, this is the second time, out of about six times, when my important work notes did not email and they are lost completely, After you hit "send email" your fate is left up to chance. If you use this for fun, go for it, but I am doubly disappointed because I depend on it to function properly. I will be eliminating this app so that I dont run the risk of loosing important info for a third time. All they need to do for me to be happy is to allow for a save option or for some type of backup after you send the note as an email. Is that so hard?!

WOW very great!

There are many apps like this in the App Store, but I could find from reading the comments at first I thought it would be pretty bad but most people would say that it doesnt register your words right well you just have to speak a little more slowly and you can register your works fine I wrote this review using this app it is amazing keep up the amazing work! Its very easy to copy and paste your text into a document or iMessage. This app is definitely five stars all the other people do not know how to use it!

Meh

I used to use Dragon on my PC and it was really great for capturing diction and converting it to text and you could train it to recognize your voice and the way you pronounce things and get about 95% accuracy. But this app is just a stripped down version. It works OK but it doesnt seem to work directly in Word. You dictate inside the Dragon app and copy it over which does not work for me at all as I dont to be jumping back-and-forth. So I might as well use the iPads native text to speech which may or may not be as accurate but is more convenient.

You would think these apps would require you to accept their Terms and Conditions *BEFORE* downloading. I do not accept Dragons condition to share my email account contact names or my recorded documents with anyone, Legal or otherwise. I will now have to delete the app.

Peace of sh.....

I dont even know why the bother to release and to put all the fake reviews here

Has gotten allot worse with each version

I havent used this for awhile. Now accessed via wifi only, it doesnt even recognize the simplest words. Waste of time
