Dragon Dictation App Reviews

The review by "Pilgrim chick" in November 2015 was right on. I have had the exact same problems. The application is great when it works, and unfortunately I recommended it to a number of family friends before discovering how unreliable it was.

In a dire state and desperately needs an update. Need new features like saving the dictation or pausing it to be completed later. Add it as in-App purchases but dont leave it hanging like that. Used to be my favorite

Not good for long dictation. Dragon is very good at correct dictation, but it constantly stops without notice, even with the settings set correctly to not detect the end of speech. I havent been able to get anything more than about 5 sentences done at a time.

I like this app. I just downloaded it and I was pleasantly surprised. Captured my words pretty well and could take a substantial amount of speech before you have to press record again. HOWEVER, it just crashed after about 20 min and it erased about 75% of what I dictated. I was very disappointed. No one will want to use this app for anything but recreation with problems like that. Need to do better..

Inefficiant and unprofessional. If you can get the software to work you might be okay. But heaven help you if you need assistance. The company is incapeable of comminucation within itself. My own personal experience was 4 phone calls totalling over 40 minutes the VAST VAST MAJORITY ON HOLD. Try a company that cares.

Very useful. Work on Apple for sure. Can spell most words for you.

I would be willing to pay to have longer dictation times. As it is, i lose concentration on the lecture because i constantly look to see of it has reached the 1 minute mark

Previous versions of the Dragon dictation have been somewhat of a flop, with the new update of Dragon is able to access your contacts and then send (just the names without violating confidentiality) to a server in order to better recognize the names that are in your contact list. I write many court reports and use Dragon dictation while Im out in the field. It is very accurate and is able to capitalized names that are saved in all caps from your contact list. This makes writing reports very quick and painless. I have to say that if I could give this app at least six stars, I would. Im actually using this app in order to dictate this review, thanks Dragon!!!

Very satisfied!

Doesnt work on my laptop or PC at home. I get the error message about connection problem. I have followed set up instructions exactly and no luck. Definitely needs work.

I am very carful about allowing access to my email, number and contacts. As a result I get almost no spam on my mobile number. Hours after download I started receiving spam text. The third one within 5 hours of download is when I deleted the app and wrote this review. You have been warned.

I have had this app for many years and always thought it was a cool novelty item. Then I started writing a book. I have always been a terrible typist with even worse hand writing that others could not read or transcribe. During my writing process i ended up with over 50 pages of various notes and passages that needed to be typed. It would have probably taken me 10 days to type all those notes. I was frantic to find a solution then i thought about this app on my phone. Instead of 10 days, i was able to dictate all my notes over a weekend. The app is a surprisingly good speller (much better than me). I was nervous about losing my work if the app crashed while i was talking so i dictated smaller passages (about half a page at a time) then emailed them to myself. It worked like a charm, especially because many of my notes were chucks of text that i decided to move around in my book. There is NO way I could have completed this work without this app. It have changed my life for the better. Highly recommended.

App is used to help my dyslexic student to write paragraphs. Speak into the mic and there is no problem.

I wanted it to be able to record long blocks of text but it silently cuts out after 60 seconds or so. The iPhones keyboard has a built-in voice recognition that is superior for dictating text in short blocks because it naturally interfaces with the text editor which enables standard cut copy and paste unlike DNS which has a proprietary text editor. In short, I dont see a use case for this product that is not already handled by the iPhone. If it could handle long blocks of text without dropping out it might be a worthwhile product.

Pros: Great recognition and dictates similar to my older version 10 of the computer software. Cons: Network or server timed out twice out of four attempts during during first 15 minutes trying it out causing wasted time and information loss. Conclusion: Its probably best for social media posts that are short and not very valuable, rather than for notes or writing longer transcriptions that are important. Ill keep using it small notes. Would be great if it could transcribe audio notes recorded in other apps or if it recorded the audio to the device so that it doesnt get lost due to network, server or wifi interruptions.
